Graphic card crashes with Premiere Pro CC

Hello everyone

I installed a graphic card of Nvidia Quadro series P2000 model. I can't identify a specific cause because the video card crashes every time for different situations; when I import the clips, when I try to place them in the timeline or when I try to open and close the program, monitors go black and I can't do anything but restart. I reinstalled the drivers but, unfortunately, nothing has changed. My OS is Windows 10 pro and this problem only occurs with Premiere Pro. Is there any precedent?

Thank you very much

Tijld,

Please try a clean reinstallation of your GPU drivers. Do not rely on the GeForce Experience Updater. Reinstall manually. Here is info: FAQ: Why is my GPU not available for Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration?

Keep in mind that the P2000 is not the most powerful GPU. I would recommend something more powerful for your specific workflow should you continue to have black screens and other tell tale signs that you are running out of VRAM for the footage, effects, and GPU accelerated processes you are attempting with your current system.

More details on the P2000 in this thread: Re: Premiere cc 2018 and NVIDIA Quadro P2000

Thanks, I'm going to try.  I have the same 4000 card and it's crashing all the time now.  Same situation as stated above.

Btw. one other thing about my case: It all works now with the latest software after I set my graphic card back to "hybrid mode" in the BIOS settings. (Thinkpad P71). I used to have only the P4000 active before and that caused AfterFX and Premiere to crash or not even start at all. Now in "hybrid mode" they work as expected - which sounds funny because you might think that managing 2 graphic cards may be more difficult for the computer, but in my case it solved the crashing problem.

It's almost exactly the same here, with a Quadro P4000 GPU.

One funny thing I noticed: After installing the latest driver (411.63), Premiere works. But only for that session! As soon as I reboot the computer, the crahses are back.

So something in the driver setup program seems to "reset" the GPU to a state where Premiere can use it. Maybe this could be a hint for the Adobe developers?

I will now try the solution with the display profile. I hope this will work.

Did you try what C Bullen suggested? Re: Graphic card crashes with Premiere Pro CC

Thanks,

Try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

I have the EXACT same issue with my P2000. If I open Premiere Pro a second time it shuts down my monitors and there's no way to get them back other than a forced reboot. This just started happening recently. I've rolled back my video drivers and nothing. Perhaps there's something in the P2000 architecture that Adobe overlooked??? Frustrating to say the least.

BTW, I've tried switching to CPU under project settings to see, so far no monitor crashes, but weak performance!
