Question

How do I Access Adobe Story CC (Classic)? Where is the previous version?

Dear Story users,

Adobe Story CC was recently updated to use the latest HTML5 technology that is supported by most modern browsers and devices. This has a new redesigned user interface.

All existing customers using the previous version of Adobe Story CC that used Flex technology should be automatically redirected to their existing Classic (Flex) version storyclassic.adobe.com when they login to story.adobe.com. All data and functionality will remain the same.

In case you are getting the new Adobe Story CC (HTML5) version, try the following to get back to the Classic (Flex) version:

1.      Log off and Log in to story.adobe.com

2.      Directly access Classic (Flex) app through https://storyclassic.adobe.com

We will be sending out more information as the Adobe Story CC (HTML5) release becomes available to try for existing Adobe Story CC (Classic) customers.

Thanks,

Teja Vepakomma

Hi......could I ask those of you who contributed to this thread to consider adding a comment in support of keeping Adobe Story going on the following thread? The hope would be that if enough people contributed Adobe may listen. If you know of others who use Adobe Story perhaps you could pass the link on and invite them to make a comment. We are also hoping that Story could be developed further to the same standard as Adobe Story Classic.

Story Discontinued...

Thanks

I'm so disappointed that Adobe story desktop no longer works.  The new "web app" story lacks a ton of features and I can't rely on a browser based program as a professional.  This sucks.  I just wish I could have my program I paid for back.  Going to have to learn a different screenwriting software, Adobe is wasting my time.

Hello,

This is my first time posting on this forum - I'm quite worried by the lack of information being given to us by Adobe about the fate of the vastly superior Classic version of Story. I do not have much knowledge of other script writing software but the new version has definitely spurred me on to investigate my options. What I want to know is:

1. Is my work at risk? (Will it be deleted if Adobe Story Classic is retired)?

2. Is there a universal format that will be compatible with other types of software out there to make continuing my work elsewhere a bit more stress free? (Any advice would be greatly appreciated).

3. What the fudge is going on? This is a truly awful update.

chriss31398101, answering your questions:

1. All projects in Story classic will be visible in Story HTML5. They share the same data.

2. There is no universal format for scripts

3. We are releasing updates to the new HTML5 version every month since Jan 2017. Details of these releases available here: New features summary for the 2017 release of Adobe Story CC

So far, it's mid-June and Story Classic and Story Desktop (? That's the only thing I know to call the desktop app of Story Classic. Maybe Story 2015?  I dunno) are still functional. However, no word yet from Adobe whether these will simply stop functioning at some point in the next two weeks.

Here's what I'd like to illustrate: Story CC 2017 (HTML5 web only) is as bad an update as the original release of FCPX.  That's right. It's a program that does not take into account the needs of the professionals who use its predecessor. It's a program that seems to have blindly rolled forward without input from its professio user base. And it's a program that will cost itself users, as they switch to other software packages.

Story Classic was basically a fantastic program that could have used just a few minor tweaks. Its largest deficiency was that, as an Adobe AIR based product, translating it to iOS seems to have been a Herculean task. That and dual dialog and that some of the templates didn't integrate as smoothly into the reports and scheduling.

It's deeply frustrating that Adobe has remained silent on whether they're even hearing us or whether they have plans to reintroduce the features we've all been using.

This reminds me of when Sleepy Hollow killed off Abbie Mills.

I wish Pre-baby Simon was here to tell you how terrible this is.

It's like beta testing for Adobe Story Classic.

Please take us back to the shire.

Agreed on all points! I stopped watching Sleepy Hollow when they did that!

As a film and television writer working in hollywood who switched over from final draft, I am really disappointed in the changes. I am going to go back to Final Draft if they curtail access to classic story.

This new product is inferior in every way, I don't know what you guys are thinking. So many beloved features missing now. The latency issue is horrible when typing. Fast writers, ie most people that do this for a living will not suffer characters latency in a writing program, it's absurd.  Andy why is this a web only app? Sometimes you just can't be connected to the internet all the time, so what am I supposed to do when I'm writing but have not internet access??

Get your heads out of your asses. Maybe talk to some real writers before you make silly changes.

Please maintain the classic version with all the features and a desktop app for offline work or you're going to lose customers.

I don't know any writers who like these changes. Bad job!
