How to make a video with 16x9 video in a square frame

Hi,

I've got a 16x9 video that I want to add black bars/borders to the top and bottom and then add a white logo on top of the top bar and some white text on top of the bottom bar like is shown at https://www.facebook.com/uniladmag/videos/2811572458865795/. Please ignore the black bars on the sides of this video as I think FB just puts those there. I want my finished video to be the full width of my original 16x9 video but then taller so it's almost a 4x3 or even square aspect ratio. Below is what I'd like the finished video to look like. I'm not the most experienced in Premiere but do have the 2017 Windows version as part of our subscription. Is there a way to do what I want to do? Thanks.

Mark

Hi Mark! I typically make my square videos 1080 x 1080. I made a tutorial on how to make videos Square for Facebook that you might find useful for future content. Here it is:

    Hi everyone - I'm back!

I was able to make the 1:1 video just like I wanted back in June. Now I want to make another one. So I opened the file from June, renamed it, imported the new video and have all that working fine. The only think I can't figure out how to do is change the text in the black bar that's on the bottom of my video.

Here's what the project looks like in Premiere (note the editing I had to do to hide the file names). The text for the old video from June is on V3. I need to change that text for this new video but cannot figure out how to do it. I can change the font color, the font, the size, the position but I cannot find how to change what it says. How do I do that?

And thank you PremierGal - your video is great and I've bookmarked it for future reference.

    Make a custom sequence 1920x1920.

When dropping the first clip into that sequence and asked to change setting: click Keep Excisting settings.

Now add the logo and place it in the black area.

Great thank you! I've got the black bars and logo in the top bar and white text in the bottom bar. But how can I select the font to use for the text?

What are you using to make the text, if it is the new Graphics you will have to drag select the text and then change the font.
