Is it safe to remove my external SSD while project renders?

Forgive my rookie question.  I keep my project files in Creative Cloud, but all of my footage and proxies live on an external SSD that I take between work and home.

As per the title, is it safe to unplug my SSD while my project is rendering in the Adobe Encoder app?  If not, is there a better way I should approach my setup to prevent issues?

No, you can't remove that external as that is where your media lives. If you disconnect, Premiere will have no media to render/export. The project files are only databases of "take this bit of this clip, put it here, do this to it, then add this bit of this clip, do this ... ".
