Issues importing .mp3 files into Premiere Pro CC2015.3

I thought it was an issue with my audio recorder (H4n), but I just had the same issue with an mp3 file that was sent to me from a professional voiceover. Every time I import an mp3 into premiere pro, it skips around during playback. It will randomly jump forward throughout the whole thing.

I saw someone who had answered a similar question, saying it was an issue with iTunes, but I don't use iTunes at all on my computer. Any ideas? I don't want to have to convert every mp3 I need to use into .wav before using it.

    I have the same exact issue.  it doesnt work.  Yet all other software like Shotcut and etc is fine.  WHyyyyyyyy

    Have you tried converting the files to wav?

    I have had a number of issues with the 2015.3 update. I edit on a quad core i7 PC, 32 gb ram. Since the update Premiere had crashed numerous times with "low memory" issues. Gh4 material recorded at 1080p will not import into Premiere with audio attached.

    I uninstalled the 2015.3 update and reinstalled the 2015.2 update and so far no issues.

    Have you filed bug reports on those? The people who need to know those details do NOT monitor these forums, which are seen by Adobe as primarily user-to-user. Hence, the need to use their bug/feature forms, which DO get tabulated and delivered to the management of the various product teams and more importantly, to the people above them who decide budgets for engineer time & tasks.

    First, do a test - convert one of the problematic mp3 files to a 48khz 16 bit wav file, import the converted file and see if that solves the issue.

    That may be the best choice, and I would certainly do so if actually using an mp3 file in an edit.

    But in the future, you should be able to avoid the transcoding: your professional voiceover person should be able deliver the file to you in the format you specify, and the specs for the H4n show it supports wav. recording.

    I have converted the mp3 files to wav, and they have worked fine in Premiere. I know that there are workarounds to the issue, but I'd like to figure out what's causing the issue.

    And, obviously, the mp3 files play perfectly on my computer through media players.

    Out of curiosity, if you select the mp3 files on the timeline so they are selected and then go to the menu  Sequence > Render Selection does that help?

    The way I look at it is you are adding to the burden Premiere Pro has to bear by making it uncompress and convert your highly compressed mp3 source file on the fly for use in the edit over and above everything else it is trying to do while editing.
