Question

Laptop crashing while rendering a video

Hello, had this issue for a while so thought I may as well try asking on here.

I'm on an old refurbished laptop at the moment (my good one was destroyed back in July, still getting things figured out).
I'm using Premiere Pro CC, a few days back I made a video, edited it and then tried rendering..the laptop turned itself off.
This thing turns itself off for most video editing programs, but it doesn't turn itself off when I render a video in Windows movie maker using the "recommended settings" selection. However I'd like to stick to editing in PPro, how can I do this? I cannot afford to buy a new laptop at the moment. The one I'm on right now is an HP probook 6550b. I've tried exporting the video as WMV and AVI files, always at 1280 by 720p, yet the laptop still shuts off.
Is there any way I can fix this? Or at least lower the settings a bit so the laptop won't die? I'd like to keep the video quality settings the same, but somehow make it so that it won't crash.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the links, however, It's not a BSOD, nor does it freeze..it just completely turns off the laptop lol
every time it does that I have to turn it back on and open up everything all over again. I know things can be hard on laptops, had many moments before in my lifetime, but my other laptop had no problem with video rendering. I'd just like to know which settings would be the easiest to export videos with on this thing, I have a bunch of old vlogs and family videos I need to get around to posting. XD

My best GUESS (I use a computer I built myself, with a LOT of added case fans) is heat

I have a free utility I found to monitor temps HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID

CPU temp at rest 32-37C, while running Encore 50-55C (did not monitor temp while exporting from PPro)

When a CPU gets too hot, the computer will automatically shut down
