linking multiple separate audio clips to video not possible

Hello, since i'm a professional user and record audio separate, i'd like to link my audio to my video.

i import an xml from my tentaclesync audio sync software, so i get a proper synced timeline. but if i move the video in ppro, audio wont follow. and off course i activated the 'link' switch next to the timeline.

according to the manual it should be possible to link multiple clips, but hey; its not working. so now every time i'm selecting all the separate clips, to link them manually, one by one. and that costs a lot of time... this is what the manual says:

Do the following in a Timeline:

  • To link video and audio, Shift-click a video and audio clip, or a series of audio clips to select them, and then choose Clip > Link.

NOPE

I've looked on this forum but cant find an answer... anybody? i cant believe premiere cant do this. am i the only one shooting with separate sound?

thanx, pim

Odd that the link isn't working. Workaround could be selecting grouping instead of linking?

Kevin's link is working here in Firefox.

    One can always search, though.

    Hi PimH,

There is no batch process for linking separate system audio to clips. It's one at a time. Not familiar with your tool, but some people use the third-party tool, PluralEyes, with some success.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanx for your answer but, since plural eyes is not really 100% error free -it works on comparing sound- most cameraman and audio technicians work with timecode lockits. that is totally error free. I can't believe two things: one why can't premiere sync sound (in a batch) with timecode, so why would we need third party software to do that?, and why can't i batch link audio to video ? It is a MUST if you work with separate sound. I thought premiere's name is premiere PRO...!

    thanx, Pim

Want to make sure I understand ... you said you get a proper synced timeline on import of the XML. So it sounds like you get the video & audio on to a sequence initially, but can't get the video & audio to "link" together, so when you move video track, the audio stays as-is?
