LUT precision in Premiere Pro

I have a recollection that when playing back the LUT precision is a 17x17x17 cube maximum. (And i mean either an Input or Creative LUT applied in Lumetri).

Is this a known fact? Then when rendering what happens?

So if i'm using a 33x33x33 cube, i understand that for playing it could be reduced resolution but would it be full resolution on a full render?

Also if i import ProRes 4444 am i getting 12 bit source, or is it decimated to 10 bit. At one point 10 bit was the maximum depth inside PPro.

Would really appreciate some insight into this, thanks

cheers

Paul

i remember reading this too. some people import premiere projects into AE to get around premiere engine's banding bug and < 12 bit bugs. Still seems to be an issue with prores. In this case, I hope I'm flat wrong. We'll need what's his name, the Top Adobe Engineer in here to clarify.

I've seen no data on LUT sizes in PP, either for playback or export.

If you check the Maximum Render Quality box for the sequence settings, you'll get the full 12 bits from your footage.

Jim, thanks for replying

Do you know for a fact that it's 12 bit internal? There was a time when it was definitely 10 bit so i'm wondering when that may have changed?

I wonder if i can test this, running some ramps through PPro and exporting.

thanks

Paul

I don't know how you'd be able to verify with a ramp.  Are there any 12 bit monitors?  Would you even be able to see the difference between 10 and 12?
