Multi-Cam Source Sequence Clip Marker option greyed out.

Hi All,

I have been trying to sync 2 cameras using clip markers. The Audio on one is not great and that camera also started shooting 15min into a 1hour shoot so none of the other sync options are available.

Footnote. novice, learned to use PP watching YouTube. I have to edit and type using my eyes as I have MND/ALS, so stuff takes a bit longer to do.

Any help or advice much appreciated

Keith

PrPro's Clip & Sequence markers are puzzling to many editors as to how they behave. Accessing clip markers on a timeline is (to me) odd but hey, I'm not the one designing it so what do I know?

If you can manually line up the clips, then you should be able to right-click in the program monitor, and select make multi-cam sequence. You don't have to use the auto method.

  • Place all clips on the timelin
  • sync manually by the audio waveform or whichever
  • select all clips on the sequence
  • Nest
  • Right-click, Mult-cam enable.
  • Program monitor ... display mode, multi-cam

That should get you going.

Thank you! You've just made creating multicam sequences that see cameras split into several clips (GoPros) SO much easier!

I experienced the same issue. Rather than follow the manual workaround outlined above, I wanted to know what might have been causing this problem in the first place; so, I think I isolated a possible root cause of the problem and got this feature to work.  The solution - at least for me on two different computer systems I'd tested it on - involves adjusting my workflow to avoid a possible bug.

For a music video project I was working on, I started by scrubbing through the video and inserting markers with various comments - like lyrics - framing issues - lighting inconsistencies - etc.  I had also placed tentative in/out points.

Later, I came back and attempted to use Clip Markers as sync points for creating a multi-camera sequence.  I had no usable reference audio track.  I'd ensured the very first maker of each clip was positioned where I wanted synchronization to occur; however, the Clip Marker option was greyed out and disabled in the Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence window.  Attempting to select it failed.  Nothing happened.

I resolved this problem by removing ALL in/out points and ALL markers from each clip.  I started over.  I set one marker per clip; and, it worked like a charm...on two computers that had exhibited the same problem described above.  I'd like to note here that for whatever reason, the clip markers migrated with the video files from one system to the other.  I had only copied the .MTS footage files and chose to NOT copy over the XMP files...also, i had created a new PrPr project file for the tests.  This behavior made me wonder if the markers were being written to the original MTS files.  Finally, I'll add that I didn't have to recreated the entire project.  I was able to return to my original project file...clean up the markers and in/out points...and it worked like a charm.

Bottom line for me: I have to change my workflow by deciding which clips to synchronize before creating any markers.  Adobe developers, are you listening?  This may be a bug; or, I'm missing something.  We shouldn't have to revert to a manual process to use a built-in feature when we choose to insert markers and in/out points prior to synchronizing our footage.  :-)

This is the real correct answer. I dont want to learn a one more workaround when I just want to know what's causing the grey out issue. I had 1 clip where I set an In Point in addtn to a Marker at the clapper slap. I cleared the in point per your comment and "Clip Marker" was accessible in Multi-Cam Source Sequence. With the number of 3 cam shots I have to line up....aint nobody got time for for some insane work around!! Thanks GearHead

Even if one camera started late, if you sync by audio, the Multi-Cam options should work ...

Thanks for getting back to me Neil. Kept getting the same message when I tried to sync using audio, Some of your clips etc....... I normally do use Audio, which works really well, usually, but this time, not. I have found the sync point at tried to do a multi cam sync using both clip and sequence markers, i have named them Slate, i have even tried cutting the first part of the longer video out so both start at the same point and the sync points are at exactly the same point in each video, still won't produce a Multi cam sequence based on audio, in point, and the clip marker option is still greyed out.

Given there are Clip markers in both videos, why are they greyed out?

Thanks

Keith
