Multi-language closed captions (CEA-708)

Hello,

As I understand from researching closed captioning CEA-708, it will support several languages.

However, I have yet been able to find information on how to do this in Premiere. In addition, what are the Stream service 1, 2, 3, etc when selecting the captioning?

Lastly; does any file format support CC? I can encode to wmv, mp4 ,etc? And when sharing the video with a colleague, I guess I need to make sure that the side car file follows.

Oddly, the few trials I've done, Windows Media Play hasn't been able to display the captions, but VLC player has.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Thanks,

Erik

I have not done this. This thread that I found is re 608, but will give you the idea. This is a thread that did not come over with the new forum, but there is a cached version. I will post the main content just after this link.

The post is by Adobe staff mostremoi on 9/1/15. I do not know if the bug described has been fixed.

The main content of his post says:

    "608 captions can be CC1, CC2, CC3 or CC4

If you have multiple captions in a Sequence, and they are all the same channel (three 608 SCC captions that are CC1) -- only one will be embedded

To get around this you would make a 608 caption that is CC1, another 608 caption that is CC2, and a third that is 608 CC3

Then you stack these in the Sequence and export them to a MOV or MXF and in the resulting file they'd represent CC1, CC2 and CC3 there

There is a bug right now, I just logged it -- where multiple channels of 608 closed captioning CC1, CC2, CC3 should all embed into a MOV or MXF as CC1, CC2, CC3 -- but PPRO is dropping CC2."
