Need help reverting to previous version of Premiere Pro!

I updated to the 2018 version of Premiere. Had the Dolby Audio issue, since I'm on Windows 7. When I clicked the drop down menu and hit "Other Versions", I hit the most recent one, which was the one I wanted. Downloaded it, no problem. Tried to open Premiere, but still opened 2018 version. Went to Adobe's website, downloaded the previous version, and tried to set it up. The setup program gave me an error which said that I needed to extract the files before I ran the installer, and after I did, it said that "the installer may be damaged" and told me to re download. Did so, same error. HELP!

Dean, I don't know how many times I've done that... When I do it, Windows tells me I need to unpack the .ZIP file before I open it to get to the launcher. After I do so, It asks me the same thing. Tried it again, same result! I then just hit the "open anyway" button, and after I tried to run the launcher, it said to "reinstall the launcher, as it may be damaged." How should I go about doing this? And do I need to delete 2018? If so, how?


Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble just reinstalling the software. Like Ann Bens mentioned, try use the Cleaner tool. So, first, do an uninstall of Premiere, then run the cleaner tool. Then you should run the Premiere CC 2017 installer. It may extract files first but then should install the software. I have done this before with other CC products, not Premiere but would expect the results to be the same. If anything odd happens, take screenshots to share to help explain what's going on at your end.

How do you convert 2018 projects back to 2017?

Project files aren't backwards compatible.

You should be able tpo find and install previous versions of Creative Cloud applications through the Creative Cloud desktop app.

1. Click the Creative Cloud icon, located in the taskbar (Windows) or Apple menu bar (Mac OS), to open the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app. If it’s not already selected, click the Apps tab at the top of the window.

2. In the Find Additional Apps section, choose Previous Versions > View Previous Versions.

Thanks, Dean, but I've tried that... (and have seen that website!) After I installed the version I wanted, I tried to open Premiere, but it still went to the 2018 version...
