No Video Playback in Timeline

*I have searched high and low for a solution to this issue but cannot find an identical situation online.*

When I start the computer, I can edit footage fine. When I close Premiere, and then start again, it will not play any footage in the timeline. Even the most recent project I JUST sent to export...it will only play the audio and the playhead will not move.

I have no idea what is causing this because there are no changes to the computer in the meantime. Currently, the only solution is to restart my pc every time I want to use a new session of Premiere. I'm sure you can imagine this is very frustrating and not something I can live with for too long.

I have tried clearing my media cache, updating premiere, and updating my graphics drivers, switching the playback engines back and forth.

PC SPECS:

i9 9900k

Nvidia 2080 Ti using Studio Drivers

64 GB DDR4 3000 RAM

Samsung 1tb 960 m.2 pcie SSD

Asus HERO MAXIUMUS Wifi z390 motherboard.

I have found a solution, although It is a very unique case.

I have a Sound Devices Mix-Pre 6 connected to my computer as an audio interface. After powering it externally for a new project (disconnected from my pc) Premiere no longer had issues with video playback.

Its evident the issue was with the audio hardware, however not something a simple change of MME/AISO would fix. Either my mixpre needs updates, or it simply wont work with Premiere at this time, which I am completely fine with because I do not record to Premiere directly.

This is with the latest studio RTX drivers, and the latest verion of Premiere. If you have a similar issue (Premiere not completely closing when you exit the program + no video playback upon program restart) You might need to play with your audio inputs & outputs.

This solution was simply a coincidence, and problems resurfaced daily until today, where after 6 hours of trial and error there was no solution. There is no solution to this problem. I am no longer using Adobe for video editing. It doesn't make sense why other editing programs and every other use of my GPU work, but simply no version of Premiere Pro works. The problem must be with the software, or I have a virus that is only targeting Premiere Pro lol.

I have literally tried every version for it to suddenly stop showing video playback seconds in. Its hit or miss and I have already wasted tens of hours troubleshooting this.

Have you tried resetting the Premiere Pro preferences?

I have just tried that, with 0 effect. The playhead remains still with no video feedback on both new and old projects.

It's possible to have multiple versions of Premiere Pro installed on your computer at any one time. Versions can easily be added and removed via the Creative Cloud app. You may want to install a previous version to try and isolate where the problem lies.
