Premiere pro Capture probs

Hello,

Yesterday I started converting old tapes from the 90s to digital format using an canopus ADVC-55, a VHS player and Premiere pro. It was all working great until this morning. I started up Premiere pro like normal and opened the capture window. Immediately, the capture window was laggy. It would not respond from simply trying to move the window. Even clicking inside the capture window pane would freeze it. The rest of Premiere pro worked fine, it was just this one window that was slow. After it seemed to load and be a bit more stable, I tried starting the tape and recording but now all im getting is an "UNKNOWN RECORDER ERROR" and a second one after that saying, "RECORDER CAPTURED NO FRAMES".

Specs:

Win 10

i7-4790K

32GB Vengeance

GTX 980

Premiere pro CC 2017 updated to current version

drivers all up to date

-Legacy driver http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/Firewire-1.htm

--ALL versions of Windows from 7 through 10 need legacy driver!

I have NOT used either, but many say to try these for SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/

I HAVE used http://www.scenalyzer.com/ and it works well, but breaks capture into 4Gig chunks

-which has not been a problem for me, since joining the 4Gig files on the timeline works well

Thanks, this worked.  What an odd thing. Why would windows uninstall this automatically? That is one of the dumbest things I've ever experienced.

Did you recently do any Win10 updates?

Only Microsoft knows why Win10 does anything

did you check the FireWire cable if it's not loose. or if the canopus driver needs an update.

My Grass Valley ADVC 110 does not require any driver, so I will presume the model 55 is the same
