Premiere Pro Guided Workflow: Before You Begin Editing

First steps before you start editing:

 

  1. Check system requirements. If you are not meeting requirements, plan to optimize media by transcoding or using proxies.
  2. Connect your equipment properly PC macOS: Connect the monitor. keyboard, and mouse to the computer. Connect any high-speed hard drives for media via USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt.
  3. Update either macOS or Windows.
  4. Update GPU drivers from the manufacturer's website (PC).
  5. Copy footage from your camera to your hard drive. A second high-speed drive is an option for media if your OS drive is full.
  6. Download Premiere Pro from the Creative Cloud application. Trouble downloading or installing Premiere Pro? Get help here.
  7. Launch Premiere Pro by double-clicking on the application on your computer's hard drive, or launch Premiere Pro from the Creative Cloud application.

Tip: Make sure AutoSave is enabled before you begin. If your system has problems, you can create automatic backups of your project via Auto Save. Enable it in Preferences > AutoSave.
