PREMIERE PRO PROBLEM: Vertically squished footage + black bars embedded within clips

Following a recent Mac OS reinstall ( done by IT professionals ), I managed to salvage a recent PP project, having initially been met with the dreaded ' This project was saved in a newer version of Premier pro and cannot be opened '. The proxy file links to RAW footage shot on a Red camera and now plays fine except for one problem : all clips within the sequence have been vertically squished with black bars appearing at the top and bottom. Playing the clips within CineRedX shows that they play fine without the bars or squishing and the clips previously appeared correctly in PP. But now selecting any clip within the sequence or project clips reveals that the black bars are part of the squished footage. I've seen this problem on a few other posts and it seems to be a bug, but I haven't been able to see a clear solution. Any help massively appreciated.

Eventual solution was to delete the proxy files and generate fresh versions - I had to first create a bespoke ingest preset in Media Encoder to ensure the correct aspect ratio. These then loaded fine. : )

Hats off to Adobe in this instance with helping me resolve the issue ; I emailed them at tcssup@adobe.com and one of their team emailed back within the day. After exchanging several mails we set up a call and solved the problem using screen-sharing.

do you only see this in the proxy files or in both the proxy and camera original?

It depends on what software I'm viewing the footage. If I view the original RAW clip in CineRedX then all's well. But if I view that same clip within my PP project file in then it has the distortion and black bars. Same for the Proxy .mov file : looks fine in VLC, but it's distorted as described when seen in Premiere Pro.

I thought it might be something to do with the reinstall messing with Proxy ingest settings, but having followed the steps in this tutorial and its Premiere Pro follow-on, it's still making no difference. Currently downloading Premiere Pro v.13 to see if the file opens and behaves in that...
