Premiere Pro stopped recognizing system audio devices

I'm incredibly frustrated by this - I've spent most of today trying to research and resolve this with no luck. After updating my NVDIA driver, Premiere pro no longer recognizes my audio devices. Outside of premiere, in any non-adobe application, both my on-board laptop speakers and the speakers from my external monitor are recognized. But when I open premiere, i get a message that "No output device is available". When I attempt to set it up in Audio Hardware preferences, "No Device Available" is displayed under "Default Output". I have reinstalled drivers multiple times; tried disabling the external monitor audio device; and multiple other attempts. If anyone has run into this, I would really appreciate some help, thanks!

Fixed - sort of. I saw mixed posts about installing ASIO4ALL, so tried that with no results, it didn't show up as an option in . I then tried resetting preferences with alt-launch program, no change. I completely uninstalled Premiere, reinstalled, opened, and same message, "No output device is available". However, when I went to audio hardware preferences, the ASIO option under device class showed up, and I was able to select ASIO4ALL V2 as an option and i now have sound again. My windows drivers still don't show up, so i don't feel like it's really fixed, but at least i have sound again.

I'm starting to think that some sort of incompatability between Windows 10 and Premiere Pro has been introduced - specific to audio drivers. I continue to have issues moving between Adobe and non-Adobe applications. For example, if I'm viewing a video in Edge (and I believe at that point my Realtek audio drivers are in use), if I even open Premiere pro, the video immediately errors out ("An error occurred. Please try again later"), and I can reliably repeat that. I assume it's happening because as soon as I open Premiere, the 'recognized' audio driver is switched to the ASIO driver -- system wide, which I find strange.

Okay, I think i have it fixed for real now. Once again I download the realtek drivers and re-installed. After rebooting and opening premiere -- this time there were now two options for audio devices: the ASIO was still there, but MME was now back, and this time it actually displayed default Realteck input and output devices.
