"An output contract violation has occurred" - Premiere Pro CC 13.0.2

Hello all,

I've been scouring support threads trying to find a solution for this issue. I've never had this happen in Premiere until today. With one project I've been working on. I can't open the project, and I tried creating a new project and importing the old project from media browser, still no luck. Premiere crashes, I get the "an output contract violation has occurred" and then this is the error I get on my Mac.

[/PPro13.0.2/releases/shared/adobe/MediaCore/Backend/Src/Content/AudioSequenceContent.cpp-322]

I am on a iMac Retina 5K 2017 (version 10.14.1 Mojave OS)

     - 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7

     - 64 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

     - Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB

     - 2TB Fushion Storage

Editing off of a Samsung 1TB T5 external SSD.

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

I uninstalled premiere and reinstalled, no help.

So after spending two straight days with failed out puts on QT 1920x1080 @ prores422 for an upcoming screening with similar results to yours, I seemed to of come up with two solutions...

1)  try removing  all color correction before you do the output. Upon doing this, I had less crashes and had to output in segments and rebuild the project in chunks into a new project and then I re-added color corrections onto the QuickTime outputs and then re-out put it again with color on the embedded QuickTime files. This is tedious and will drive you criminally insane (I did this last week and still had an occasional crash)  BUT as I write this I seemed to have just found a simpler way that is working...

2)  Output your project in Apple ProRes 4444 and onto an external hard drive...so far my outputs have been flying through without a single glitch. My project is two hours long, so you can imagine how dreadful this process has been but woke up this morning with an epiphany to attempt it. I’m doing the output in 20 min increments just to be safe with the color corrections on the shots but this is a huge improvement as I wasn’t even able to get 2 min chunks out for the last two days before this and so far, no problems. Try it. Let us know. Good luck

Hey TylerA!

I'm trying to research this problem too and not finding a whole lot of solutions. Let's see if we can figure out. Have you tried adjusting your render settings? File > Project Settings > General > Under "Video Rendering and Playback" there will be a drop-down menu. Try changing it to "Software Only."

Let me know!

Because I get the same error, I am unable to load that project in order to check that... I created a new project and made sure "Software Only" was selected. Then tried to import the original project sequences, but got the same error

Good to know, thanks for checking!

Do you have any third-party plugins installed?
