Reveal in Explorer

Is there any reason why 'reveal in explorer' is greyed out for a movie file on the timeline. It clearly exists in explorer and plays back fine?

Other clips on the timeline is fine

This happened to me recently. Other footage allowed me to select Reveal in explorer, just not one in particular. I right-clicked on the footage and selected Replace with After Effects composition. I unexpectedly had to disconnect hard drives. This is because Premiere was no longer referencing the original footage, but a file associated with AE. When I disconnected the drives it was gone, obviously, but also saved that way by accident. It also made the file missing in AE.

My workflow with dynamic linking is to get the footage into After Effects, then go back to Premiere and CTRL-Z, so the original footage is in place and not connected to AE. Design the shot and render out tiff files, then import those into the timeline. I know it isn't meant to work this way, but when you have a massive project you can't have jillions of dynamically linked files. So when I came back to the AE file, the footage was now missing like I said. Rather than relink it I just opened the file again without saving, and it was fine.

It's not that big of an issue for me; I just fixed the AE file and rendered as described above. I don't know if this is the same as your circumstance, but it's what happened on my end.

Do you have the clip grouped or linked with another clip?

Is it the only clip selected?

No. I don't. Here is how the project looks like.

It is not linked or grouped with any other. PR-Shit-censored.png

Actually clips were linked 3x cams synced. However my current suspicions lean towards some idiotic self modification of the video cache of the project which for reason beyond me got moved from whatever I have set to Lightroom's video cache. And since afterwards I have used LR, I guess that is the culprit. Afterwards all my saved steps of the project were ruined like that.

Since then have used LR a few times and no issues. Logically I believe it to be the video cache folder setting. The question is why did it changed :-(

Nobody seems to care or know. That is a big issue for me too.

In addition that my whole beginning of the project is messed up. Could be due to problem with "Match Frame" or something similar.
