Question

Select part of a clip

I have a couple of long clips in the main timeline. I want to select just a few seconds from each of them and copy them and paste them one after another into one separate clip. This is easy in Final Cut but I can't find a way in Premiere except by using the blade tool to cut out my selection, then copying and pasting each one into a nested clip. Is that the only way? Seems kind of destructive of the main clip.

Hi there,

You may mark a selection on your clips using the In/Out points in the Source monitor and create a subclip. Once the selection has been marked on each clip and the respective subclips have been created. Select all the subclips in the Project panel. Right-click on the selection and choose New Sequence From Clip. You may refer to this link to learn more about subclips. Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Sumeet
