Question

side-chain still not working in premiere?

it's been a while since i last tried sidechain compression (audio ducking) in premiere, lowering the volume on a background music track, when on another track there's a voice. i could not get it to work. the best i could get was DB Audioware sidechain compressor working when playback, but not rendering to the export file.

with the new  2017 i try again, as it would save me tons of time if it would finally work. all new VST effects from audition in 2017 seems worth a new try.

however, in the VST screen of 'dynamics processing' i can select input "side chain in: left: or right, ..only the hear... nothing.

is it still not possible to do this side chain ducking straight into premiere? (i don't want to round-trip to audition).

(as sidenote, the plugins seem quite disappointing, as there is no visual feedback, you can't 'see' what you're doing, which was possible with many now 'obsolete' effects. )

with the BEATRIG plugin it now is possible to do side-chain ducking, all within premiere (no round tripping) and it's also working at export. you need to download the newest beta version of their side-chain plugin.

I too am wondering if this is even possible with bare Premiere. It doesn't appear possible without using Audition or third-party tools.

it's really frustrating to hear the effect (db audioware sidechain compressor) really well when play back, but not in the final file.

i wonder what are the 'channel -> effect input" screens for? (when clicking the channel map editor button) doesn't seem to have any effect (well, muting the audio) in premiere. i can't find any information about it.

i think, if it actually worked, this should do the trick. (let the effect get the signal from another track)

i really hope in a new update this works properly.
