Sound has disappeared from Premiere Pro Project

Hi,

I hope you can help, I'm a basic level user.

I'm using the latest version of Premiere Pro on PC. I was working on a project and had used the bracket buttons [ & ] to change the volume on a track for music. Then the program seemed to freeze and I had to reload the project and the sound was gone on all tracks.

I've reloaded it and followed some Adobe advice to clear a cache but I still have the same problem.

I do have sound on PC and on other projects and none of the tracks are muted. When I play the project there is no green showing in the audio bars on the right of the timeline. Please help me fix this as it is lot of work to restart from an earlier version.

Thank you.

    Hi ArcaneLaw,

This sounds like a known issue: random audio layers are muted (without mute button activated) since last 04/2018 update! – Adobe video & audio apps

Please add your voice there. We do have a fix in place for an upcoming version, fortunately.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I too just had the issue on 2/2/2024. I tried downloading a copy and then loading it into a new project. There wasn't even a soundtrack on the new video.  I added a Tonor microphone and tried again. No luck. I had sound for most of the video. I would have been done in another 2 minutes. I never use to have this problem, but have had it in the last 2 videos I attempted to make since I signed up for the trial version after not using this software for a few months. It's usuable. Help.

We just had this issue yesterday. When will it be fixed? In the meantime we are thinking about rolling back to 12.0.1...

I rolled back to 12.0.1...we will finish up a current project and hope the client will not want to revisit it. I do not understand how Adobe can put this out?

    Hi arcanelaw,

Sorry for the issue with audio. Create a new project, import the old project file into new project & check the audio.

    Let us know the status.

    Thanks,

    Vidya

Same issue here. I have to solo all tracks for the audio to play. Also crackling over the audio tracks and I'm also getting this in 12.1 and 12.1.1

Audio is broken in CC2018 12.1 and 12.1.1

I have tried creating a new project and importing, but get the crackle pops over audio. Sound works for a short period of time then suddenly I have to solo the tracks again. Been  a loyal Adobe customer, but this has just caused issues for us and can not roll back because projects worn't open in a more stable version.

Lastly, we have tried exporting a xml and rolled back to an earlier version of Premiere, but when trying to import the xml, nothing appears in the project. It's blank.

We have not been able to get the project into any earlier stable version. So at this point, we can't work in Premiere Pro CC2018 12.1 or 12.1.1, we are now having to rebuild the whole edits again in an older version. Not happy customers.
