Alright guys forgive me for i am new to video editing. I have a problem where i cannot get my stereo audio to work. there is definitely a left and right audio stereo channel attached to my video, i recorded with a shotgun mic and apparently it records stereo. when i play audio with the mixer dial centered, nothing plays. if i turn the knob to the left, i get audio coming from the left and vice versa with right. now i want audio coming from both sides but when i center the dial i get nothing. why is this and how do i fix this? please help this new guy out.

Alright guys, thanks for the advice. It actually turned out to be a windows problem. I had to go into the settings and turn on spatial sound. now the audio comes in great. Thank you though for the suggestions i was about to pull out my hair haha.

I'm glad it works but I think you still have an underlying problem that this spatial sound option works around.

1) Make sure the shotgun did record in stereo (seems unlikely to me)

2) Check the waveform in PPro: do you see two audio streams placed on top of each other on a single file?

3) Check the audio channel settings: use the context menu (right-click) to call up the audio channels. You may choose to use either L or R channel and make it dual mono.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Richard

Try the fill left with right audio effect, either on each clip or on the whole track using the track mixer.
