Question

Stretch all clips to fill frame?

Hello!

I am trying to compose a sequence of animated GIFs where all GIFs scale to fill the frame. Most GIFs fit the 16:9 aspect ratio, but a few need to be stretched to fill the frame.

Here's what all the clips should look like:

Notice there are no black bars on either the top or bottom.

Here's some examples of what I do not want:

Notice the black bars on top and bottom of these two examples.

Now, I know the simple answer would be to go into Effect Controls and scale the clips up, but there are hundreds of GIFs in my sequence and it would be very time consuming to go through each clip and resize them.

My question is: Is there a shortcut to scale all clips to fill the black bars? Or will I have to manually resize every clip to hide the bars?

I just do not understand, how After Effects does have this basic feature, but Premiere does not. It was a revelation for me, that in 2021 Adobe Premiere is lacking lots of basic, simple and usefull features. I find ability for AUTO resize\crop to fit height\width sides of my timeline of MY CHOICE is a must, especcially when i have hundreeds of clips with different ratios\sizes\resolutions. Doing all this extra manual things is madness.

There's no automatic method to fill the frame, unfortunately.  (Resolve 14 has this option, called Scale full frame with crop.)  If the resolutions are different, you'll have to do them manually.

Thanks for the response! It seems that Resolve 14 doesn't have support for animated GIFs yet. I do recall Sony Vegas Pro having support for animated GIFs and also having an option to Scale to Fill but I no longer own a license and don't with to purchase one. Seems like I will need to keep searching.

If they all need the same size adjustment, you could Copy one with the size adjusted, select all of the others, and then Paste Attributes, choosing the appropriate parameters..

I have considered that option but there are various different aspect ratios among the GIFs and it would be very time consuming to try to figure out what each clip should be scaled to. It's unfortunate there's not a feature for this yet. Thanks for the response!
