Time Tracker Per Sequence/Per Project

New Here ,
Jun 12, 2018 Jun 12, 2018

Hi all, I am looking for some sort of time tracker extension that can register my time automatically and label it per sequence or at least per project. My goal is to get data to reference when I am trying to get an idea of how long different types of projects take. Any thoughts? If there is one that works in After Effects, that would be cool too.

This has been asked regularly at around 6 month periods for several years, kinda interesting that. However, there isn't any time-logging capability in PrPro or AfterEffects. For that, you need to say create a small spreadsheet or use time-logging apps on your phone or found online for your computer.

First Party time tracking apps are considered the best in this regard. For Windows, I would suggest you to go with TimeDoctor because I have used it and yes, you can easily add projects here. On the other hand, for Mac users, I would suggest the FreelanceStation Time Tracker to use. However, if you are looking the ones that are good for both Mac and Windows then see the following suggestions:

Timely - https://timelyapp.com/
HubStaff - Hubstaff | Time Tracking Software for Productive Teams
Klok - Home - Free Time Tracking Software - Klok Free and Klok Pro

You can also go with https://toggl.com/. It is free to use.

Poor man time tracker is your Autosave folder. Set the Autosave to an interval you like and set the max saves to something super high, I think you can do 999. Just make sure to close your project when you walk away.

7 years since the OP posted but we finally have a third-party AI app. Only downside - it's a subscription model, sigh.

Timing App for video editors

Exactly what I need as I'm hiring in-house editors for our company and they rely heavily on time tracking data to meet KPI's and see where we're stretch for resourcing.

Would love this feature to be built in!

The app my team and I are using is https://trackabi.com/ It can track time automatically, and you can have a breakdown by project or even per task. If you hire somebody to help you, there are screenshots, user activity tracking, and other stuff for employee monitoring. Pretty cool app.
