Question

Upgrading old version of Adobe premiere pro

Hi! I purchased new computer and because of that i needed to install my premiere pro in to that comp. I chatted to someone in adobe support team and with my serial number key he told me that I've got old version of adobe premiere pro and that it's not compatible anymore and will not run. I wasn't too happy about it because that last version costed so much. I did bought it on 2013 and it is an old version, but it did run on my old comp and I didn't have problems. I was told then that it could be upgraded to new one. And when I asked how, I was pointed to this forum.

How to do that then? I've got a serial key to my old version and it will cost me to upgrade it, but how much it's going to cost? I was led to believe that I must buy the new sofware fist (really? buy the new one first, it will cost the same amount money (a lot) like it's new product). It seems now that I'm forsed to buy a new product.

Thanks everyone, i'm going to try to talk again with support and explain that it should work on my windows 10. If it doesn't or they still don't give me the old version, I'll think again what to do.

I don't have the discs for SC6, but i do have license sertificate and that license Key.

Of course it works on W10.

Support just wants you to get a subscription.

I  used the links a couple of weeks ago and they were OK, but as you say most of them no longer work.

I may have inadvertently triggered this action by posting the information on a non-Adobe website at that time in response to a query.

So much for the sale of perpetual licences!

Apologies for the mis-information.

Alan, when I click on the "click here first" (setting cookies/logging in to Adobe), it takes me to a download elements page.

When I click on one of the links, it takes me to a download and install help page, where it says Creative Suite is no longer available.

When I right click a link (that indicates it should be a .7z file), the link is actually to the download-install.html page.

I do not believe these links still work.

What links?

I have the CS6 downloads on my screen now from the link I posted!

The person in support who told you that your old perpetual license version of Premiere pro would not work with a new computer was either mistaken, parrotting Adobe's marketing line, or simply did not know what he/she was talking about.  Premiere Pro CS6 will work perfectly with the latest version of Windows 10 and the latest hardware.

As Stan says, if you have disks and serial number you will have no problems.

If you do not have a disk, CS6 can be downloaded from here:

Make sure you follow the detailed instructions exactly.

I also have CS6 (Production Premium) running under Windows 10. You may need to set it to run "as administrator" and (for Encore, for example) to run in Windows 7 compatibility. Give it a try.

Do you have a boxed set with disks? Or do you have the original download files? Did you purchase it directly from Adobe? This is all relevant to whether you can get the files, and the UPDATE files, to reinstall.

Old version of premiere pro is CS6 and operating system (I believe you mean this, correct me if I'm wrong) -->  was Windows 10. New computers operating system is also windows 10. And it really, really annoys me that I paid it fully on 2013. It's been just what I needed/need now and I don't really need a new version of it. Exept that, that old version doesn't run on my new comp. Or that's what they say in support chat.

I really do understand that if they just get people to order it monthly or yearly basis they get more money of it. I get it. But I've already paid old version of it and now I can't use it at all. And I'm told that I need to purhace that new version and pay it yearly or mothly. This Sucks.

If it is CS6, it will certainly work with all versions of Windows 10, despite what Adobe and others say.  I have CS6 working perfectly on both my recently built X299 desktop and my late 2018 Dell XPS15 laptop.

I have also installed earlier versions of  Adobe software on these machines.
