Video preview is stuttering heavily

Hey,

a couple month back, I cannot really tell when my video preview in Premiere Pro started stuttering in every project. I used to be able to use Premiere Pro perfectly fine without any problems before that, but since the stutter problem started it is nearly impossible to do anything in Premiere Pro. I did not change any settings and use the standard settings since the first time I installed it. I already tried all the different things I found on the internet, but nothing helped. I even uninstalled PP and reinstalled it, but it didn't help at all.

I am kind of frustrated at this point and cannot think of anything that I have done in the past which could lead to that problem. Like I said, I didn't change any settings ever and were able to use PP for over a year without any problems at all.

I will list my computer specs below, feel free to ask for more if I missed something:

OS: Win10 Home, 64-bit

processor: Intel Core i7-4790 @3.60GHz

graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

installed RAM:16GB

harddrive PP is installed on(maybe it is helpful😞 Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive

If any aditional info is needed do not hesitate to ask.

    So I uninstalled and removed everything that was from Adobe and installed the Creative Cloud and Premiere Pro again. It is installed on my SSD now. The problem seems to be solved since I did a quick test recording and threw it into PP. The preview isn't lagging anymore and the Dropped Frames Indicator is always green.

    I still don't know what exactly was the problem in the first place, but it works now. I hope it stays that way.

    Is this the same media as before the problem?

    Did you try updating or rolling back the video driver?

    Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers

    Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

    •ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

    There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version
