    I don't use speech analysis

Yes, you install #3 and #4 to be able to use the extras that are not installed with the programs

Somewhat dated now, but still some good information for CS6

A couple comments re John's post.

You do not need any of the extra files/installs unless you are using the content they provide.

The most frequent issue is that Encore installs without the Encore library (premade menus, buttons, etc). And for both Encore and Premiere Pro, that content includes "styles" that are used when you want pre-configured text options.

There is no downside (other than disk space used) to install all the extra files.

    Let’s see....

Adobe CS6 refers to all of the suite of applications that Adobe publishes in what used to be called Creative Suite.  It’s CS6 be cause it’s the sixth version of the Creative Suite.  It’s now called Creative Cloud, or CC for short.  Perhaps the best known applications in the collection are (in no particular order) Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator.

Had Adobe not switched to calling the collection Creative Cloud, the next version of CS6 would have been CS7; however, it was called Adobe CC instead of Adobe CS,  The next version after that was CC 2014 which would have been CS8.  Something that makes coming to the software as a new user is that while Adobe used the yeat that the software was updated to reflect the version, they seem to be going back to just using “Adobe CC” in the Creative Cloud Desktop application (what was called Adobe Application Manager when the suite was under the Creative Suite title).

The Speech Analysis feature of Premiere Pro allowed video editors to sound files with spoken word for automated translation into text.  It was about 50% accurate and didn’t get any better.  As such, Adobe discontinued it.  There’s a 3rd party plug-in called Transcriptive that’s fairly new and seems to offer some improvement.

Encore is Adobe’s desktop DVD authoring and Blu-ray authoring application.  It’s also discontinued.   If you’re burning your own DVDs or Blu-rays, it was a great solution.  If you were replicating DVDs or Blu-rays for retail sale, like the Hollywood movies purcahsed on DVD-Video, Sonic Scenarist is the authoring software that’s almost exclusively used professionally.  Magic DVD Architect is probably the closest solution still being published that matches Encore.  If you just want to convert a video file to DVD, there are other solutions (most offer template based menus or no menus).

Premiere Pro is non-linear video editing desktop software.

So... you’d edit your video in Premiere Pro CS6.  If you have interview footage, you could submit that for speech analysis while in Premiere Pro; however, it‘s not very accurate.  When you’ve got your edit just right from first frame to last frame, you can the move to Encore to create a DVD or Blu-ray.  If you need graphics or motion graphics, you might use other applications in CS6 like Photoshop and/or Illustrator and/or After Effects.  If you have audio that needs fixing, Audition is available a well (you could also do your audio mix in Audition).

All four files are separate files.

(There was a 'set up' file for each folder

= a total of 4 'set up' files)

I first ran the 'set up' file in the first folder(Adobe CS6).

Then Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is in place.

I did not know if I had to install the other three files.

Even if only the first folder(Adobe CS6) is installed, the program normally operates.

Do I need to install the second, third, and fourth files as well?
