What file size do videos in websites start at?

I have barely worked in Premiere pro or with video in any way. I have put together a 15-second clip of footage in premier and have exported it and it is about 20mb. The video is for a website I am working on, it will be the hero image on the homepage which will loop through, I am sure you have seen this style of video in websites lately.  Current export setting are (which i have set after researching 'how to export video for Youtube' forums on Adobe support and around the web): H.264, Youtube 480p SD wide, unchecked audio, target bitrate 10, maximum bitrate 12.

My questions are: What would the standard file size of a video of this style be? Is 20mb massive, or is this a normal size file of a 15 second? If I am able to reduce it significantly what settings do I need to change? What size file do people normally upload to youtube? What is a standard file size of a video in the homepage of a website?

Thanks guys. Trying to learn the very basics of video so happy to hear anything that might seem obvious to you, as I have probably missed alot!

20mb is small for  a video file but ok for 15 - 20 seconds of SD.  Are you sure you wanted SD?  btw.

You could crunch it back a little by lowering the data rate when you export it.  Lowering reduces quality though.

Its a trial and error thing for your website.  Depends if you are streaming it or iif it is a link to Youtube / Vimeo.  Go much higher data rate if its linked. Lower if its streaming.    Test streaming at 20mbs but test a Link at say 100mbs +

I selected SD only cause it seemed to be a smaller file size that HD. If you recommend something else than please let me know.

I will upload the video to the site through Wordpress as a featured image for the main image. I am assuming this is how it is done for other websites but then again there could be a better way to do it. For confirmation, the video on this page is all I am trying to achieve: openideo.com

Is that video the actual video on the actual site in discussion?

No that is an example website that is doing the same thing that i want for my project. My website is not live yet. But that website has a looping video, that looks like it's pretty good quality, that is what i am after.

If your media and edit is HD...you might want to try an HD export for this.
