Hi all,

I am looking to buy the new macbook pro 16 inch and debating between the two models. Also wanted to check if premiere pro is compatible with the new macbook.

I am looking between these two:

2.6GHz 6-core ninth‑generation Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz (Upgrade to i9 which is 450 AUD more)

16GB of 2666MHz DDR4 memory

AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory

512GB of SSD storage

Or

2.3GHz 8‑core ninth‑generation Intel Core i9 processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz (No need to upgade as its already built in)

16GB of 2666MHz DDR4 memory

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory

1TB of SSD storage

Thanks for the advice 🙂 hope everyone is safe and healthy.

The MaxTech channel on YouTube has done a lot of good tests on the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The end of the buyer’s guide video below makes some recommendations based on a number of video and photo editing scenarios. See which one is closest to the kind of work you do. Note that they recommend the 8GB graphics upgrade for video editors. Premiere Pro recommends 4GB which the base model meets, but 8GB might be a good idea if you’re running multiple external displays or editing very large frame sizes or with lots of effects.

Thanks for the info and the video, it definitely helps, its just more on do I have the budget to 8GB graphics and 32 GB RAM, it is an expensive macbook but I have heard good things about it and some people told me the Apple care is good to have if you get issues with the hardware within the mac within a year or so, its also more money but it sounds like its good to have if any issues with macbook pro happens after the 12 months warranty that it originally has.
