Just started using Rush. All video files, regardless of source, stutter wildly in editing playback, making it impossible to actually edit. Exported video plays fine (except the edit points are goofy because I can't see exactly what I am editing.) I am using a new HP laptop running Windows 10.
Same files play fine in FinalCut Pro on an old Mac and in Windows Movie Editor on a laptop running Windows 7. Any input appreciated.
A quick note for folks having laggy/jittery playback issues - two things to check:
1) Check your playback information in your Preferences:
Try toggling the bottom two checkboxes and then restarting Rush to see if your system prefers the alternate options.
2. Try working with H.264 files instead of H.265:

Hope this helps!
I found the solution!!!!! You have to turn off hardware acceleration. On computer Edit>Preferences> then uncheck the box that says "Enable hardware acceleration coding and decoding" Not sure how to fix it on the phone, but I hope this helps

Update - spent 4 1/2 hours on Adobe chat and phone support. No resolution, escalated to senior tech who will get back to me in 48 hours. I think it is awesome that this product is named Rush.

Hi John,
I apologise for the delay.
I need little information here.
1.Make and Model of the camera used.
2. Media information like format, frame rate, Frame height etc.
3. System specs in terms of RAM, GPU, Hard Drive and GPU driver version.
4. Export format used.

I have now provided that information to at least 4 Adobe support people. I spent four hours on the phone and chat last night and got nowhere. The last guy I talked to said someone would call me back within 48 hours.
Moderator note: case notes information was removed.

Thanks for your reply. I received a call, then an email, from support a few days ago, asking me to email them a copy of one of the files in question. The same email said to reply to it in one place, and to NOT reply to it a few lines lower in the same email. I replied to it anyway and attached the file in question. Not surprisingly, no one has replied.
My guess is that Rush is just new and REALLY buggy, since not one person I have talked to so far at Adobe support has seemed to have any idea what the issue is, and they all just keep asking the same basic support questions over and over again. I was just going to upgrade to Premiere Pro since it's been around awhile, but the Adobe support experience so far has been so unbelievably bad that I am probably going to buy something from another company instead.

Hi JKovac,
Sorry for the performance issues. Have you tried setting your Preview Quality to "Low?" Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Nope 4 years later and Rush is still trash and the support services is trash as well. I read all of your post and I had a similar problem. They deleted all my projects of 2 years. They admitted fault but did nothing about it. I must of spent 3 weeks straight for at least 4 hours a day trying to fix this. I must of talked to well over 100 trash employees. Adobe is trash.

Hey JKovac,
We've had some updates to the program and some new suggestions added to this thread. Have any of them worked for you?
Let us know!

2 Years later seems to be still the same issue around.
I just started Rush and have mp4 file and I have an i7 and 8GB ram - though the ram is not maxed during this process...
The preview setting is on low and the video lags so horribly that I debate going back to Microsoft Video Creator as that software seems more capable than Adobe's rush

Also have this problem. I'm using a video that I took with the screenshooting tool that comes with the Mac, the video is <15sec, I'm using low quality preview playback.... 🙄

Following up on this –
This is still a concern amongst our teams, we're keeping an eye on it and we'll continue to invest in improvements!
In the meantime, try to avoid using footage that was taken with a screen recording. More information on why screen-recorded footage has issues here.
I also noticed that if I edit my photos using the iOS Photos app (AKA Camera Roll) before I import it into Rush, I get a stuttering playback. So if you're using an iPhone, don't edit your footage before you import it into Rush.
Hope this helps, we'll keep at it.

Same issue here with a new DJI pocket 2. The previews play flawlessly in two other video editors. 720, 1080, and 4k all skip in preview.

Same issue with 1080 and 4k footage from Sony ZV-1. Renders this app pretty useless.

SAme issue here after footage shot on a GoPro 8 Black in 4k is viewable perfectly in every other player and is skipping and choppy in Rush... the only reason I purchased their entire bundle was for the video editing.. tired low medium and high with no chang in output or flow of video playback.

Legit all you need to do is restart your computer. I had the same problem not even an hour ago, got worried, and then I just restarted everything, and the audio doesn't skip anymore. If it doesn't stop skipping then I don't know what the issue is, sorry man.

.MOV files transferred from and iphone to my windows 10 desktop will be choppy in rush but if I render the file, then recreate the project with the rendered version it works much better.

I am in a same boat - thought that I have found a user friendlier video editing software since imovie seems a bit too much work. Just uploaded several GoPro videos hoping to start editing process and playback is extremely jittery. Any new ideas/solutions to the problem?
