New to RH8. I have a bunch of broken links. These are links to bookmarks in a particular topic. The bookmarks are there, but they do not show in the Topic list or the Project Manager. Because of this any dialog box that has you select from the list of topics and their bookmarks cannot be used. Is there a limit to the number of bookmarks allowed in a topic or something?

Hi there

If you have bookmarks present, you should see them in the Project Manager like this:

tmp1.PNG

You may need to enable them by clicking the Funnel icon, then ensuring they are enabled.

And in the Topic List pod, you may need to click the icon to enable seeing them.

Hope this helps a smidge... Rick

I'm sorry, but it's not that simple. The attached image explains it all. All the bookmarks show except for about half of the bookmarks in one particular toBookmarkProblem.pngpic.

If you highlight the bookmark in the topic and go into the weird and wonderful world of the HT

ML tab do you see a line like this?

<a name="AddNextV"></a>

It maybe also be worth closing the project, renaming the projectname.cpd file and reopening.

Yes. This was there. BUT... I made the problem go away... It wasn't something anybody could do, I think. Here's what happened:

  1. Copied the .htm file to my Desktop.
  2. Deleted the file from my project.
  3. Imported the file from my Desktop. The missing bookmarks now appear in the topic lists, but I have other weirdnesses: All of the Text-only popups have %20 where spaces should be and bad code for line feeds. Also SOME of the popup links and text-only popup links are now decorated bookmark highlighting and have randomly assigned bookmark references.
  4. Replaced the topic with a previous version that was saved in source control. Now everything seems to be correct.

Solution was too weird to be generally applicable.

Hi,

I had a similar problem with some bookmarks not showing in the project manager. The page looked okay but when I had a look at my HTML there was some odd, almost empty SPAN tags which, when deleted, allowed the bookmarks to show okay. So it is probably worthwhile having a look at your HTML if you have this problem. If your bookmark HTML is all the same colour something is wrong with your HTML somewhere.

Hope this helps,

Greig
