bookmarks missing underscores on SOME PCs!

We have recently upgraded everyone to RH7. However, we're discovering that only some people are getting the 'convert spaces / illegal characters to underscores' when creating bookmarks. On my laptop if I just press Tab, the spaces are converted. On other equally new XP machines pressing tab just creates a bookmark with spaces. A bookmark that does not work.

All of us have "use underscores in filenames" checked. We were all installed with the same software (multi-user license), we all have XP with the same service packs.

WHAT can cause this difference in performance? This is a key error as the bookmarks with spaces don't work and RH7 now captures all the words following the bookmark location...so if you are not careful, you have a problem.

Anyone have any words of wisdom on this? We're going nuts! Thanks!!!

The "use underscores in filenames" never did apply to bookmarks. Also you are right that bookmarks without spaces will not work in webhelp.

I don't know why your laptop behaves differently and I'm surprised that pressing Tab converts the spaces to bookmarks. Let us all know if you find out what drives that.

I think the only solution is that whatever RH puts in as the default, you type in what you want / need.

Hmm. Just tried your Tab thing on my Vista machine and it does indeed add the underscores. Is your laptop Vista or XP?

Peter, my laptop is XP. And what's crazy is that I have a equally new desktop machine that is XP and it DOESN'T convert them. But other people at MassMutual with laptops don't get them converted either so its not a laptop/desktop machine issue. Its crazy!

Peter - you may have it! Found a desktop with the 7.01.001 and the "tab thing" works. Found one with 7.00.145 and it doesn't!!!

so...how do we get the latest patch for these folks? ??????

Try Help | Updates. If that is greyed out, someone has just posted that means they don't have admin rights to install the patch.
