.chm/.xpj RoboHelp 5 help system: can it be authored/maintained in more recent RoboHelp's?

I have been able to get by using the old RoboHelp 5 to author/maintain my company's help system. I'm afraid RoboHelp 5 won't install on my new Windows 7 machine. I'm seeking advice re: which version of RoboHelp, installable on Windows 7, will allow me to somewhat seamlessly continue maintaining this help system. Is there a painful conversion process?

You may have got by but did your users? I dare say they may have hit usability issues. I mention that just to suggest checking when browsers are upgraded. Maybe you did.

Turning to your question, you should be OK without much if any pain. I emphasise "should" given the number of version upgrades. The code behind bulleted and numbered lists changed in Rh8 and you could hit problems there. See Lists on my site if you do.

Make a backup first and I recommend you zip that to stop you accidentally using it other than to extract a fresh copy if you need to.

You haven't mentioned whether you used Rh HTML or RoboHelp for Word. The latter does not ship with Rh11. You will likely only be able to buy Rh11 and I cannot see any reason for wanting an earlier version.
