Collapse and expand indexing in RoboHelp HTML v7

I am using RoboHelp HTML v7.0. I want to create an index that can be collapsed and expanded using the plus and minus signs (like the TOC). What I have is one long list of Key words and subindex key words. It doesn't look very helpful. Also how can I include at the top of the index pane the alphabet links like A to Z. Could anyone explain please?

Hi Anu

Sorry, but the Index is a vastly different beastie than the TOC. The index allows your user to type what keyword they are looking for into the field. As your user types, the Index coding causes the base part of the Index to scroll and attempt to match what is being typed. As a result, your end user often doesn't have to type the terms completely before seeing what they want come into view. Then they click and off they go.

If your desire is for an index with the alphabet links across the top, try choosing the "Pure HTML" navigation type.

Hi Rick

I tried Pure HTML and got what I wanted. Thank you very much. My next question is will I face any problem like some browser or image display limitations if I choose Pure HTML ?

About the collapse/expand index, I saw how the Index is designed in the Help file for RoboHelp itself. I liked it and wanted to know if it was possible. :)

Thanks again

Hi anu

Acutally, the "Pure HTML" option is the safest of all choices. It is used as the fallback for all modes of WebHelp. So you should be fine.

As for the way the help for RoboHelp displays, that's something only Adobe can answer. I could speculate, but I'd probably be wrong.
