Anyone noticed that the varmints at Microsoft will no longer let you download the x86 version from KB917607?

The item is there, but there is no "Continue" button next to it to proceed with the download

I hope this is a temporary oversight

I hadn't noticed it but can confirm I also see a button for the 64 bit viewer only.

Time for you phone Bill and get him out of retirement.

Looks like it's the same case for Vista.

After some googling, I found several sites that offer the download.

One being http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/174092-choose-x64-yes-x86.html

The problem with that is according to Microsoft you are now allowed to distribute the viewer, the end user must install it. It follows your users have to locate and install the viewer. That's the theory.

Hi all

This is pure speculation on my behalf, but I'm thinking perhaps the following is true. Microsoft forced the download because they wanted a way to determine just how many folks were still even using this format. With Windows 8 just around the corner, perhaps it's no longer relevant for 32 bit systems so they really don't care much about distribution of the 32 bit viewer.

Just thinking out loud a bit... Rick
