Question

Duplicate RH database

Currently we have a RH7 database under RoboSource Control and SQL 2005.
I want to create an exact copy of this database, including SSL, tags, indexes, etc., because I want to clean all obsolete topics and stuff, but keep the old database up and running in case we need to change things there.
Does anyone know which steps I have to take to make this duplicate database?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Gravenstein,

The only thing is that we cannot connect to a new database. If we make a new database in de configurator, we cannot connect to it, because Robohelp shows an error message as mentioned in my other post, titled: 'Connection problem to new RH database'. Unfortunately we are still waiting for Adobe to come up with a solution for this case...

Thanks for answering.

This seems a good solution, but how can I upload something into a new database? Is this the correct way?
1. Copy all the local files into a new folder
2. Rename the xpj-file from the new folder
3. Open the renamed xpj from this new folder. Robohelp asks if you want to remove the project from source control. Confirm.
4. Create a new database with the RSC database configurator.
5. Put the new database into version control using the new connection.

If this is the case, I still experience the problem as mentioned in my other post: Connection problem to new RH database.

You can explicitly remove a cloned project from source control, as described here.

Once you have your independent, renamed project, you can then upload it into a new db, as described in your step 4.

Hi Casper -

Have you considered simply duplicating the project and uploading it into a new database?
