Here are a few more resources that you may want to take a look at.

  • Scott Boggan's "Microsoft HTML Help Design Techniques". Provides examples (some of which are now deprecated), of how to use features like data binding, Persistence, Internet Explorer behaviors, and HTML+TIME in HTML Help.

I'm not sure how "innovative" you may think they are, but I've got several freely downloadable HTML Help (.CHM format) files on my site.

* Tips and Tricks
* Skinny on Skins
* Top Ten RoboHelp Misunderstandings
* Etc.

Maybe they will give you some ideas?

In addition to Rick's suggestion you could also do worse than look at the help in the applications you use every day (e.g. email, image capture, timesheet, even RoboHelp).
