Help! Bizarre behavior in RSC 3.1

Hello all,

We're using RoboSource Control 3.1 with RoboHelp 8. For some reason, RoboSource started deleting topics from the project and I'm unable to do a Rollback to get them back. When I try, I receive an error message: "Error-path '3926' is invalid."

I can click Cancel or Close, so I chose Close. RoboSource hung for a few minutes and then eventually let me use it again. It did do the Rollback, but that involved deleting a large number of topics from the project! A further Rollback did not undo that damage.

I did have the deleted topics in my C drive still, so I added them all back, did a Get on the whole project and exited RSC. But now I can't open the project, when I try it just crashes and closes RH8. I tried deleting the local folder and reloading the project, but I get the same behavior.

Any help you can provide? I'm waiting to hear back from our IT folks in the hopes that the server where the root ($) is stored is on tape backup so I can just go back a couple days and not have to resort to drinking heavily!

Do you have patch 802 applied? If not, maybe that is at the root of the problem. See the Sticky Topics at http://forums.adobe.com/community/robohelp/robohelp_html

I can't seem to install 8.0.2, it tells me that I don't have 8.0.1 installed. So I uninstalled 8.0.1 and then tried again, no luck. I rebooted, still no luck. I uninstalled 8.0.1 and then opened RoboHelp, closed RoboHelp and then tried 8.0.2 again, still no luck.

Anyone else have issues with this?

You uninstalled 801 but did not reinstall it, correct. You will have to do that before 802 will take.

At the moment Help > About should show 800.

Apply 801 again and check Help > About then shows 801.

I think then 802 will take.

No, I did reinstall 8.0.1, and I can see it in my Add/Remove Programs. But 8.0.2 will not take.

I haven't seen anyone have this problem. The only reason a patch doesn't take is a lack of rights and that would affect 801 so that cannot be the case.

Have you tried downloading the patch again? (You can download the patch as well as applying via Help > Updates)
