How Do I Auto-Update Links?

Hi,

Is there any way to automatically update the text of a link when the destination topic's title changes?

Every time I change the title of a topic, I have to manually update all the places where I've linked to that topic, which can take a long time with a big project. It would save me a lot of time if there was a way to automatically update all the links to match the updated topic title.

Thanks.

No can do I'm afraid. You could use a Find and Replace tool - Helpware's FAR is a good one.

Wow, I didn't expect such a quick response. Thank you!

Using FAR does save a little time. But it still requires combing through all the topics and finding, then updating the link text for each updated topic title. I was looking for something more automatic than that.

We do have some places where the link text does not have to match the destination topic titles. But unfortunately most of our links require us to display the actual topic title.

Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly!

Could you not change the links to something such as "Click here for more information"?
