HTML view appears spread out - spaced

Dont know what has happened but HTML view has changed on all my projects.  It appears spread out and wherever I put the cursor a space of a few characters appears.  Below sample (copy and paste and spaces disappear) Design view is perfect.  HTML view is corrupted  somehow, I think.

  <li    ><span      style       ="font-weight:                   bold;"            >New Layout                                  </span               >   option

Just a whole lot of extra spaces where spaces are.  Anybody with any ideas ??

Change the font back to Courier 100% and it will be OK.

There are a couple of other fixed width fonts that will work (Lucida?) but you must stick with 100%.
