Hyperlink to Folder Contents

Guest

I am trying to set up a hyperlink that willl open a new window and display the contents of a folder on the local network.I am using the following syntax in my "Link to:" field:

//srv-files/info/newfiles/

It seems to work when I view the hyperlink in Preview mode, but it doesn't work when I compile the AIR output.  Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I've tried both of these formats:    file://srv-files/info/newfiles/    and   http://srv--files/info/newfiles

Hi there

Are you able to open a link in a brand new window that appears outside of the AIRHelp?

My thought here is that if you are able to do this, maybe you could just create an HTML page that performs a redirect to open the resource you want. So you would open it from AIRHelp as you might any other topic. Then it would redirect and open the location.

Cheers... Rick

Thank you for this suggestion, but it has the same result as my hyperlinks.

The redirection does not occur; the html page remains on the display.

All of these methods seem to work when a page (.htm, .aspx, etc.) or file is the target of the hyperlink or redirect.  But, if I attempt to display the contents of a folder, nothing happens.

Is this not a standard security thing to stop people putting hyperlinks that open Windows Explorer and let them run amok with your PC?

The folder is on an internal network share that only the users running my AIR Help will be able to access from their PCs. Maybe you're right - possibly Adobe doesn't allow it.  I could post a Support Issue, but I still haven't heard back from the one I posted in March. Not sure who else to ask.

Actually, I just scheduled time with our IS guy.  Maybe he will know or have some other solution for me.  Thank you again.

Did you ever find a workaround... The hyperlink issue is a huge one for us...

We have over 60 gigs of video that need to be trigger from our Airhelp

First there is no way i could embedded them as flash video caus the air file will be massive.

Second it will never work, our video are 1600 per 1200 pixel (3d software actual screen res)

Anyone ?

Tx

Best

Sorry for the late response.  I just upgraded to Robohelp9, but the problem still persists.  So does the problem with tool tips not appearing.  However, the issue with the Microsoft Viewers seems to be resolved.  Excel baggage files now are viewable in the publsihed AIR output.

I'm also sorry to say that I don't have a work around.  I just supply a hyperlink to the folder, as it is installed in the Program directory, and instruct the user to cut-and-paste it into their browser.
