Is there a convenient way to import a printed documentation layout into a project from another project?

Hi Bob. You can import .doc files via the File > Import menu item. You'd be wise to follow this link on Peter Gringe's site for further info in this area.

Colum - Thanks for the respose, but I apparently didn't state the question clearly enough. I'm not wanting to import doc files. I want to import the definition of a printed document layout. This is the information you enter on the dialogs for defining the layout. In the project folder, there are files named "printdoclayout.xml". Is there some way to import these into another project?

Rick:

There's a printdoclayout.xml created for each Layout you create. The sections within the .xml file will vary, depending on the selections you made (toc, chapter, etc.).

This example shows brief snippets of two section within one of them. I've never tried it, but it certainly looks like you could copy the file from one project to another (if the target project has the same series of topics in the same order), and have it show up in the GUI.

Good luck,
Leon

BTW, after the first layout, the rest of them get sequentially numbered (printdoclayout(2).xml, printdoclayout(3).xml, etc.).

That's it for now!
