Indented numbering in PDF output

I read on Peter Grainge's web site not to expect indented numbering styles to work in print output. I'm mapping the Word List style to the indented List style in my Word template. Are there any workarounds for this? So far, I haven't found any.

My corporate style requires a side head in documentation, so the steps must be indented.

It's more that  that they don't work easily.

Thanks for your reply. I needed a simple, quick way to format lists, so I removed the sidehead. That solved the indent problem.

If I had more time, I'd post a screen shot of what I want.
