Index not sorted alphabetically

New Here ,

I am creating a .chm file for a online help system, in RoboHelp 8 RoboHelp HTML. The index in the .chm file is unsorted; in other words, it is not sorting alphabetically, which makes it useless to the end user. Below is the screen shot from my project settings, and as you can see, Binary Index is checked.

I have tried rebuilding the index in a new, differently named file. Same result. This is a huge problem! I have to be able to output a .chm file with an alphabetically sorted index for my client. Please Help

Hi there

What happens if you turn off the Binary Index feature, then open the Index pod. Are you then able to right-click and sort the index?

I'm not suggesting RoboHelp 8 doesn't have a bit of a bug in that regard, but this may be a possible workaround for you.

Cheers... Rick

No, that doesn't work. The issue is not the way the index sorts in the pod, it's the output to the .chm file, which is unsorted. Is this some sort of reported bug?

Hi again

I'm not sure I've seen anyone report this bug yet. Odd that it seems to fail for you. Since the Binary index option seems to be ignored, my thought was that the compiling of the CHM is simply pulling in the existing Index. By sorting it manually in RoboHelp using RoboHelp's sorting tool, I would have expected to see it sorted inside the .CHM on the next compile.

Hmmm, which makes me wonder. You did re-compile, no?

Other than that, please report it to Adobe as a bug.

Cheers... Rick
