Indexes in RH7 vs RH9?

New Here ,

Hello,

I am using RoboHelp HTML, version 7. I'm trying to determine if this is the right tool for single-sourcing, since we currently have this software (though we have not used it much). Right now, I'm trying to solve some indexing problems.

I've read in the forum that RH Index works by associating keywords with a particular topic. For my project, the keyword would appear in the topic and I want to be able to tag the keyword in the text so the Index displays the page where the word actually occurs. I've read that in previous versions of RH, the printed index would refer to the first page of the printed topic, not necessarily to the page where the information exists. That seems to be the case in RH7 as well. Am I correct? If so, does anyone know if RH9 handles printed indexes any differently?

Louley

You may have the index keyword in your topic text but that is not always the case for everyone. RoboHelp associates the keyword with a topic, not a position within the topic. That is true of OLH and printed documentation and there is no difference in 9.

Personally I am happy with that arrangement but I know you are not alone in wanting it to work the way you describe.
