Question

Is Search a good reason to buy RoboEngine?

I am fed up with the limited search functionality offered by RoboHelp (Web HELP), so I was told to buy RoboEngine since it uses a natural language algorithm for its search, and also ranks the pages by relevance.

Let me explain how we distribute our WebHELP. All the generated HTML files are shipped out as product documentation on a DVD. So our customers install our products from the DVD and get the generated HTML files.

Can RoboEngine be used in a situation like this?

Thanks,
K

Yes, go for ZoomSearch. It works quite nicely. Not to through anything bad at Adobe or anything, but we had to switch back to RoboEngine X4 after having upgraded to RoboHelp Server 6 ; it causes multiple sideBySide errors and crashes on very very regular basis. I wouldn't recommend anybody using this. Pb reported to Adobe but still no reply! :-(((. Wonder how slow their response will be when we ask for a refund...

Hi K

If you are considering the most recent version of the RoboHelp Server, I believe that the Natural Language Search feature was removed from it.

Hi again

Sorry, my bad. I should have also advised that my fellow Adobe Community Expert Peter Grainge has some excellent information on his site that talks about using a replacement for the search in WebHelp. It's called ZoomSearch. click here to visit Peter's site
