Hi,

Before I upgraded to RH8 I was able to link from a topic to an imported .pdf. Why can't I do this anymore?

It seems if I view the html I can drag the pdf link into the document as a link. Just can't do it in Design.

Hi there

Assuming you are talking about establishing links to Baggage files in RoboHelp 8 using drag and drop, you now have to press and hold the Shift key before dragging the Baggage reference to the topic in the Design view.

Thank you! I won't mention how intuitive THAT is. LOL. oops...

Anyway, so now I have my links, however, when I generate webhelp, the links don't work. When I View Selected Item inside the project, the pdf displays. I'm stumped. Any insight?

Hi again

Probably you are generating using the Mark of the Web (MOTW) option to avoid seeing the Yellow Information Bar (YIB) in IE. The side effect is that links won't work when testing locally.

So to overcome this, turn off MOTW and configure IE so you don't see the YIB. The link below should assist with configuring IE.

Cheers... Rick
