Missing borders in generated Word document

I am developing on-line help and a User Guide for a web application. I routinely add a 2 pixel border to all images I paste into the a help topic from the web page to make the image stand out in the help. When I generate the MS Word document, many of the borders are not appearing. Sometimes all 4 of the sides are missing, but more generally, one or two are missing. Any suggestions on how to solve this will be appreciated. I'm using RH8 on Win XP SP3.

Long time, no see.

Assuming the borders were added using the border function as in this screenshot, they don't come out in printed documentation and I am surprised you are seeing any.

The only way to make borders survive is to make them part of the image in your graphics program. I use SnagIt and you can set that up to automatically add the border as part of the capture.

I'm guessing that at some zoom levels, table borders display OK; at others, the odd mixture of thick, thin, and no borders, varying cell-to-cell, are a bit scary because they suggest there's something very odd about the way your tables are set-up. However, your tables DO print correctly on your office/home printer.

Try Edit > Preferences >  Page Display and then, in the Rendering section, untick (disable) the Enhance thin lines option.

I can't help feeling that Acrobat should be able to distinguish between a (Word) table border, a fine line in a scaled graphic, and hairlines designed to assist commercial printers. Or, until that day arrives, that this option be disabled by default. But that's just me.

You can also mitigate this effect to some extent by setting all table borders to at least 1.5 pnts, and reducing their visual weight by using color (usually a shade of blue).

You seem to be talking about table borders whereas the question is about image borders.

I agree Acrobat does not handle table borders well, including amusingly from PDFs that Writer has generated. Add in that free readers such as FoxIt can display the borders and it is even more silly.
