Question

Moved my RH Project from my desktop to source control: now can't open it

I'm using RH7 in the Tech Comm Suite 1.

I'm new to generating Flash Help and thought I would work on my hard drive while I learn.  Good thing I did - I ended up creating 3 different Help projects and learned lots in the process.  However, the time came for me to stick with my last Help project and move it to source control.  I copied all of the folders and placed it in the source control and now I can't open it.  Is there some way within RH that I could have done this so that the project can be opened?

Hi there

I think your question may be better suited for the Source Control forum.

Please grab the Aw Shucks handle and hang on tight as I transport the thread there.

We use both Visual Source Safe (VSS) and Team Foundation Server (TFS) with no problems with RH6-8, however, we don't have RSC installed. I seem to recall a problem where RSC wouldn't let you pick other source control apps if it was installed, so I would recommend uninstalling it if you aren't using it.

If you don't have RSC installed, the source control app you are using must support a specific Microsoft API. Some source control apps will also require a plugin to be installed before Robohelp will talk to them. For example. VSS just works, but TFS requires the MSSCCI Provider application/plugin to be installed as well. (Or maybe that's "RH requires.." but you get the idea. ) A search on the Microsoft site should turn up the latest version.

HTH,

Amebr

Thanks, this was really helpful. Sounds like we will need to get a developer involved to get us set up on our 3rd party source control. We used to use Source Safe and didn't have problems with it either. Now we are on Eclipse, so it will require some additional configuration on our part.
