Movies in FlashHelp

How can I get a movie to play in Flashhelp?. I have the project in Webhelp and everything works fine, but when I compile the project in Flashhelp, the movie does not play. The movie was created in Captivate 1. The Web Help project was created in RoboHelp HTML X5.0.2 Build 801.

Thank you.

What are your settings for the movies to start? Are they supposed to start automatically when the topic first loads, or something else?

I have several Captivate 1 movies in a topic of one of my FlashHelp projects, and they work fine (no complaints from the testers). I have them set to pause after 2 seconds, and then the user must click a button image ("Show Me") with a click box that makes the movie continue. It also loops at the end so the first frame with the Show Me button comes back.

Thank you for your response Benjaminson. For the settings I have an icon that says "Show Me", which the user clicks to play the movie. I doubled click on the icon, then I did a hyperlink, link to multimedia and select ed the .swf movie. The movie plays in the Webhelp, it just won't play when I compile it to Flash Help.

Hi Marisol_1

Does this happen only when you try to run off your local PC? Or does it also happen when you push to a server?

Things to look at or try.

If you are pushing to a server, make dead certain about all file names involved. This doesn't matter so much if the server is Windows based. But if the server is UNIX based, it could matter tremendously!

If you are running locally, maybe Flash Settings are nailing you. For more on that, click here.

Cheers... Rick
